Kelsey Brugger, July 18, 2013
Santa Barbara City College awarded vocal music student Brandon Thibeault the school’s first Don Richardson Memorial Scholarship this week. Quire of Voyces — a choral music group that Richardson partially founded in 1993 — recently created the $1,000 scholarship to honor the late music composer, professor, conductor, and radio commentator. Richardson was also an advocate for the education of young musicians, supporting community colleges throughout California. Thibeault, who’s involved in SBCC’s Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, will complete his final year at SBCC this school year and plans to apply to a California state university for vocal performance.
